Gorbachev was very stern - whenever I tried to interrupt him, he would thwack his hand down on the table. Henry Kissinger proved as brilliant as he is controversial. Yoko Ono provided fascinating gossip on Dali, and Omar Sharif told me extraordinary stories about his time growing up in Egypt.
